As an Afghan American, the son of immigrants, a Muslim, an attorney, and the father of two children, I view education, community, and civic leadership through several lenses at once. I value opportunity because I have seen firsthand how it can transform lives. I value representation because I know what it means for families to feel seen and heard. And I value strong schools because, like every parent, I want my children to inherit a community that is stronger than the one I entered.

These are the values that lead me to support Jeresia Ewell.

I have known Jeresia since law school, and throughout the years I have admired her ability to listen, think critically, solve problems, and bring people together across different backgrounds and perspectives. She leads with humility, listens with intention, and approaches public service with a genuine commitment to the people she serves. I have also seen firsthand how Jeresia is guided in her faith and how that plays an important role in her life. In an era when it is often easier to speak than to listen, Jeresia has consistently chosen engagement over division.

What stands out most to me is her sincere commitment to ensuring that every family has a seat at the table. She has worked to build relationships with communities across our region and has been intentional about reaching out to those whose voices are not always present in public conversations. I have particularly appreciated her desire to build stronger connections with the local Muslim community, approaching that effort with respect, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to learn.

Whether I am looking at this election as a parent, as a member of a faith community, as the child of immigrants, or as an attorney who values thoughtful leadership and sound judgment, I reach the same conclusion: Jeresia possesses the character, integrity, and temperament needed to serve our students and families well.
