About
Jeresia Ewell

I’m Jeresia Ewell, and I’m running for the Roseville Joint Union High School District Board, Trustee Area 2. My son is a freshman at West Park High School, and my daughter is a sixth grader at Chilton Middle School. Our schools are a big part of my family’s life, and I understand firsthand how much school board decisions matter.

If elected, I will bring a parent’s perspective, more than 17 years of public service, and experience as an attorney, business owner, and community leader to the board.

West Roseville is home

Rooted in Our Community

My husband and I chose West Roseville to raise our family and build our future. We were drawn to its strong sense of community and wanted our children to grow up feeling safe, connected, and supported.

During our first month in Westpark, our daughter was learning to ride her bike when neighborhood children gathered around to cheer her on and help her find her balance. By the end of the day, she was riding on her own. That moment made us feel at home—and reflects the kind of community we want to help strengthen.

More than 17 years of public service

Experience for Thoughtful Decision-Making

I have more than 17 years of public service experience, primarily within law enforcement and regulatory agencies. I currently practice employment and administrative law, advising executive leadership on workforce management, policy development, regulatory compliance, legislative analysis, and strategic decision-making. I also represent my department in governmental board hearings.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I helped lead my organization’s workplace safety response efforts. I also own a boutique consulting practice that advises small business owners on employment law and workplace compliance.

This work requires careful preparation, thoughtful questions, and consideration of how decisions affect people. I will bring that same approach to school board service.

My Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology
  • Master’s degree in Human Behavior
  • Juris Doctor (Law Degree), earned with honors

Community leadership

Expanding Educational Opportunity

I serve on bar association boards in Sacramento and statewide. As president of a local bar association, I have helped strengthen the educational pipeline from high school through law school.

This year, I led efforts that raised more than $21,000 in scholarship funds for law students and established a co-curricular educational program with Sacramento State University. I also serve on a statewide policy and legislative committee, helping advocate for proposed legislation, including measures related to education.

Through these efforts, our organization has expanded opportunities for students interested in legal careers and has been recognized by the California Lawyers Association for its impact.

Leadership Begins with Listening

While meeting with parents, students, and community members, I have heard a consistent concern: “I don’t feel heard.” Listening means creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue and making sure people know their voices matter.

Before decisions are made, I believe we should hear from the people affected by them and keep students’ best interests at the center of the discussion. I do not look for solutions that everyone loves. I look for solutions people can support because they were heard and represented throughout the process.

As an attorney and community leader, I work to understand differing viewpoints, find common ground, and reach practical solutions. That often starts with a simple question: “What matters to you, and why?”

If elected, I will be accessible and responsive, ask hard questions, communicate clearly, and follow through. Our students deserve leaders willing to do the work of bringing people together.
