My Priorities for Our Schools

Every student deserves a safe, supportive, high-quality education. If elected, I will focus on three priorities, with student needs guiding every decision.

Education First

Student wellness, safety, and academic achievement should guide every board decision. I will listen to families, educators, and staff, ask thoughtful questions, and support opportunities that help every student succeed—regardless of their family’s resources or familiarity with the education system.

Our district’s strengths deserve to be celebrated, and achievement gaps deserve attention. Decisions should be driven by what is best for students, not partisan political debates.

Plan for Growth by Jeresia Ewell

Plan Responsibly for Growth

West Park High School currently serves approximately 2,600 students, with enrollment projected to exceed 3,000 in the coming years. Preparing for that growth means planning for more than classrooms.

Our district must plan ahead for staffing, student support, lunch and shared spaces, parking and traffic, course access, athletics and activities, and safety. That planning must include responsible use of district funds and clear communication with families.

As the only candidate with a child currently attending West Park High School, I understand the importance of addressing these challenges before they become larger issues. Families deserve to know where to bring concerns and how those concerns are being addressed.

Prepare Students for a Changing Workforce

Students need opportunities that prepare them for success after graduation. I will regularly evaluate Career Technical Education and Dual Enrollment programs to ensure they align with workforce needs and career opportunities.

I support pathways to college, skilled trades, military service, entrepreneurship, and other careers. As technology and AI change the workplace, students also need critical thinking, problem-solving, personal responsibility, and cultural awareness to adapt and thrive.
